Cunninlynguists - Strange Journey Volume One

One of my favorite hip-hop groups, this is their newest stuff due to hit stores in May some time. I'm in the process of listening through it but so far it seems a bit darker than their earlier stuff, which is a great thing. It's awesome. They're awesome. It also has a live recording of "Lynguistics" and remixes of "K.K.K.Y" and "Georgia" and the ending tracks are all instrumentals, I love that stuff. Don't sleep on this.

Some Girls - All My Friends Are Going Death

Compilation of the first two EP's with some demo tracks and you will need this if you're a Wes Eisold-fanboy/girl.

Soul Control

Somewhat new band from Providence, RI. I doubt anyone's missed these guys but whatever. I think this is all they've done.

Redemption - Demo 2008

Redemption on MySpace

I got this in an e-mail earlier this month that I actually just checked. They're from Richmond, VA, and judging by their myspace, are a pretty positive group of bros. Haven't had a chance to listen to it yet, but I liked the one song I listened on their myspace.

D.O.A. - Hardcore '81

This is the album that is said to first have applied the term "hardcore" to a music genre. Kind of a must-have if you're really into this shit.

7Seconds - The Crew

Including the huuuge hit "Young Until I Die" and my personal (second) favorite "Not Just Boys' Fun" (go figure). First LP from '84, this is the re-release with bonus live tracks at the end.

Atmosphere - Godlovesugly

One of the first albums to get me into hip-hop that wasn't played on MTV. I still love it but I guess mostly for nostalgic reasons, if 7 years ago can be considered a nostalgic time. "Fuck You Lucy" and the title track are still brilliant though.

Free Spirit - Demo '08

A new Boston hardcore band that plays really fast youth crew. This demo is over in like 2 and a half minutes tops and all it does is leaves me wanting more. I actually got this off Cold World's blog as in the actual band Cold World, not some lame musicblog who ripped their name. Check it out especially if you're into hip-hop too, I'd guess Nick Woj writes most of the posts.

No Warning

Great late 90's-early 00's band. Ill Blood, their second LP which came out in 2002, is widely regarded as their best and one of the best releases during that time. Suffer, Survive however... Oh man. Think Linkin Park. I'm not even kidding, but I wish I was. They definitely went off and did their own thing with that LP which is cool, I guess. Get it at your own risk, ha.

Trap Them

Heaaaavyyyy as fuuuuucccckkkkk. Both LPs, might upload EPs some time. Sleepwell came out in '07 and Seizures just last November.

Cro-Mags - The Age of Quarrel

Well, why not? One of the most influential hardcore bands and one of the most influential releases.

Threadbare - Escapist

Another EP by Threadbare, came out in 1999.

Internal Affairs - Deadly Visions

Another band that doesn't really need any introductions. This came out in 2007.

Within Reach - Something's Not Right

Apparently, there are two hardcore punk bands with the name Within Reach. This one is the Swedish one though (from Arboga). They were active from I think 1996 to maybe 2001 and this was their second LP. I can't believe how good this is. See for yourself.

Negative FX - Government War Plans LP

This is a compilation of all the early NFX demos and a bunch of unreleased tracks, put out in 2005 by Parts Unknown Records.

Mainstrike - No Passing Phase

Mainstrike was a 90's band from the Netherlands and I think this LP came out in '96. For fans of Youth of Today and other energetic youth crew hardcore.

Snapcase - Progression Through Unlearning

Their second LP, came out in '97. My personal favorite of theirs.

Chain of Strength - The One Thing That Still Holds True

Both released EP's (True Till Death and What Holds Us Apart) re-released by Revelation in one compilation along with one unreleased track.

Judge - There Will Be Quiet

The 7" that came out in 1990. Featuring "The Storm", "Forget This Time" and also a cover of "When the Levee Breaks".

Give Up the Ghost - Year One

My least favorite full-length by them but it does have one of their best songs (Please Die!). Either way, it's GUTG so get it if you don't have it.

The Trouble - Nobody Laughs Anymore

I think some people may want this. The Trouble was a Boston hardcore punk (with emphasis on punk) band from '96 - '99, I think. You will definitely want this if you're into Panic and American Nightmare-like bands, especially considering the vocalist went on to form Panic, and also considering AN did a The Trouble-cover on Year One ("Each day a reminder"... Yeah, Dead and Gone).

FEATURES A JOY DIVISON COVER!!!!!!!

Cursed - Blackout at Sunrise

This EP came out in between Two and Three

Gorilla Biscuits - Start Today

This band needs no introduction, neither does this LP.

DS-13 - Killed by the Kids

DS-13 was a Swedish hardcore band from Umeå, same town Refused were from. These guys have a much more thrashy sound though. Killed by the Kids was their second LP.
