Attitude

Attitude was a band from Syracuse, NY on 1917 Records. I guess their last show was at Sound and Fury last year but they're touring Europe in a few weeks so I'm not really sure what's going on, maybe it's just a farewell tour or something. Either way, I'm excited because this band fucking rips. GET INTO IT!

The Effort

So fucking good. Not only do these guys sound great but the lyrics are really good too and I just really, really like this. The EP features guest vocals by Sean Murphy (Verse), Pat Flynn (Have Heart) and you can hear Sweet Pete (In My Eyes) on the LP, if anyone cares about stuff like that. Don't miss out on this.

Betrayed

Since I just found out Betrayed are coming to Sweden this June (meaning I don't have to go to Germany to see them), I'm celebrating it by posting everything I have by them. I think all that's missing is that split with Champion which I'll get up here eventually. Betrayed was an awesome fucking band, including members from Champion and Carry On and I'm not sure if positive straight edge hardcore gets much better.

No Apologies - Survival

While looking for the cover (before realizing I had it in the folder), I came across a few reviews of this saying it's just mediocre and nothing special. I guess it's nothing ground-breaking but definitely worth a listen if you're into modern hardcore. No Apologies were an Aussie band and this was their LP.

Lion of Judah - Demo '05

I just figured I'd include this since Universal Peace already is up.

Mobb Deep - The Infamous

Must-have. It's slightly over 100 mb so I had to use megaupload but whatever. Must. Fucking. Have.

Aussitôt Mort - 6 Songs

Aussitôt Mort is a French screamo band and this EP of theirs is really, really good. For fans of Envy, Daïtro and I guess Amanda Woodward probably, considering they share some members.

The Roots - Game Theory

I couldn't hate this album even if I tried. Not only are The Roots awesome at what they do, but this album also features an eight minute ending track which is really just a long tribute to J Dilla, sampling one of my favorite songs by him ("Time: The Donut of the Heart") and on top of that, these guys actually pull off sampling Radiohead
("You and Whose Army?") which is one of my favorite bands ever. Awesome.

Blu & Exile - Below the Heavens: In Hell Happy With Your New Imaginary Friend...

Extremely underrated. This is the debut album of Blu & Exile, Blu being the rapper and Exile the producer (except for him joining in on the track "I Am"). I'm pretty sure I had this in my top 5 of 2007. I'm trying to think of someone to compare them with but I can't think of a good comparison so just get it and be happy... with your new awesome hip-hop album...

A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory

I'm pretty sure everyone into hip-hop already knows about A Tribe Called Quest (if not, you should) and given the fact that The Low End Theory is widely regarded as their best, I'm guessing most people already have this. Just in case, here it is anyway.

Trash Talk

This is Trash Talk's selftitled LP that came out last year. I'm just upping this in case anyone managed to miss it. For fans of Ceremony and the like.

Kaospilot

Kaospilot is a screamo band from Oslo, Norway. I could imagine that people who like Orchid and Ampere would like this.

Cursed - Two

I think this is an album that often gets in the shadow of One and Three: Architects of Troubled Sleep. It's a shame because it's a damn good album even if it doesn't top those two.

Blue Sky Black Death - A Heap of Broken Images

A friend sent me this shortly after its release in 2006 and it's still one of the best collaborations I've heard. A Heap of Broken Images consists of two CD's, the first one being completely instrumental and the other one featuring guest vocals from rappers like Jus Allah (Jedi Mind Tricks), Guru (Gang Starr), Sabac Red (Non Phixion) and Holocaust (Warcloud). Both CD's have some really great tracks (for instance "From Sun's Angle" on CD1 and "I Catch Fire" on CD2) so you should get them both.

Government Warning

In a time where it seems to get harder and harder to stand out in the hardcore scene, I think it's safe to say Government Warning from Richmond, VA pulls it off. And they do it fucking great too. Think early/mid-80's.

Unbroken - Life. Love. Regret.

Unbroken was also a band out of California, San Diego to be precise. This is one of my favorite hardcore releases of all-time. I'll just leave it at that. Get it.

Inside Out - No Spiritual Surrender

Inside Out was a late 80's band from Orange County, CA. I don't know how well this cover shows, but that is indeed Zack de la Rocha. In my opinion, this is the best he's ever been involved with. They only released a demo and this 7" before he went on to form Rage Against the Machine (originally a title for an Inside Out song).

American Football

For fans of Owen, Cap'n Jazz. You really need this if you've somehow missed out.

The Saddest Landscape - Two Albums

Two albums from one of my favorite Screamo bands, The Saddest Landscape.

Gator Bait - Glory Days

Gator Bait is a Youth-Crew revival band from Tampa. They feature former members of legendary Judge and Project X, among many others. The singer, Old Man Tom, is in his late 30's or 40's, which is sweet. If you're a fan of any Youth-Crew bands from 80's or 90's, you're going to love this stuff.

Plague Bearers - Demo

I got this demo in an email today. The best way I can describe Plague Bearers' sound is Ceremony with Brainfreeze-ish vocals. But don't go off my opinion; I'm terrible at describing what bands sound like, so just download the demo.

If you dig the demo, add their MySpace and tell your friends about them.

I Pilot Dæmon - Happily Depressed

I Pilot Dæmon hails from Toulouse, France, and they play a really nice mix of Sludge, Post-Hardcore, and Screamo. The production on this album has seemed to leave a sour taste in most listeners mouths after listening. It's an unpolished, not to the point that it sounds like they recorded it with Windows Sound Recorder, rather the way Sludge recordings should sound: sloppy and dirty.

Sabertooth Zombie - The Only Good Politician is A Dead Politician

This was uploaded by my broski at Angry Music For Angry Souls, brademony. It features three songs that were on Midnight Venom, a track from the Dungeon Sessions split with Life Long Tragedy, and two songs that I haven't seen on any other STZ release. This version of Fragments has a pretty wikkid bass intro that makes it superior to the versions on Midnight Venom and Hang On. Enjoy.

P.S. Make sure to check out the STZ discography post on Angry Music For Angry Souls by Brademony.

Cloud. - Pimp Steak

I found this gem on blog that I frequent called Strictly Beats. It reminds me of J Dilla's Donuts a bit in terms of the samples that are used and the length of the songs.

Flying Lotus - Los Angeles

My first post in a long time will be one with one of my personal favorite beatmakers around right now, Flying Lotus. He mixes jazz, electronic sounding stuff, and latin music, and he does a really good job of it.
